Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 20: Inspite of repeated media reports filed against Air Force Works Wing Srinagar from last one year and subsequent notices being issued by J&K State Information Commission (SIC) , the officials at the helm of affairs in order to hide their misdeeds and misappropriation of public funds are once again not responding to queries filed under Right to Information Act (RTI).
Details available with Early Times reveal that an RTI application was filed via speed post on 28th August 2018 by one Raashed Ashraf Rather a resident of Kralpora Chadoora seeking details of all the works executed by Air Force 1 Wing Srinagar under the supervision of Junior Engineers Ansari and S K Singh. Information sought by RTI applicant is readily available with the department and the same was supposed to be dispatched to information seeker as expeditiously as possible and in any case within 30 days. More than 2 ½ months have elapsed and the information is yet to be provided to the information seeker.
On 30.10.2018 information seeker filed 1st appeal under section 16 of J&K RTI Act 2009 before the First Appellate Authority (FAA) of Air Force 1 Wing Srinagar.
" Neither has PIO responded nor has the 1st appeal been disposed off till date. The information sought is of great public importance as works that have been shown to have been executed are not even exist on the ground. Air Force works wing is involved in mass corruption and scam as people do not even have access to their works. They are siphoning the taxpayers money under the garb of so called development. I am planning to file a complaint before Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who only can probe into the bunglings done by some JEs and civil contractors in Air Force works wing at Srinagar" said Raashed Ashraf while talking to Early Times
Information seeker filed a complaint before SIC and sough action against the officers.
State Information Commission (SIC) vide its communication No : SIC/K/comp/23/2018 Dated 19/7/2018 had directed PIO of Air Force 1 Wing Srinagar to appear before the Commission on 3rd August 2018 for hearing of the complaint. The complaint before SIC was also filed by Raashed Ashraf. The PIO AF Works Wing had not attended the hearing and SIC had to issue another notice against the officer.
