12/5/2018 9:33:39 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Dec 5: Violence erupted at a counting centre late Tuesday evening after people alleged misappropriation in favour of a candidate.
Supporters from both the groups vandalized furniture of government higher secondary school at Khawas (counting centre) and also resorted to stone pelting in which 6 persons including 4 cops were injured .
One civilian with critical injuries was referred to a hospital at Jammu while others were discharged after first aid.
Trouble started immediately after the result was in declared in favour of one Noshada Begam, a BJP candidate. The other candidate namely Nasreen Akhter insisted on for re-counting and re-counting was conducted in which Nasreen was declared winner.
Noshada, in her application to the DC alleged that the result was changed in nexus with polling staff especially ARO who conducted the counting in place of RO.
On the other hand, Sher Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and deputy CEO said that according to RO/ARO, Nasreen led the counting and was declared winner.
He denied any complained by Noshada for re-counting. "If she approaches with complaint, re-counting can be done" said ADC.
He admitted violence in higher secondary school at Khawas during counting and said police were going to lodge FIR against unidentified trouble creators.
Meanwhile, MA Asad, DEO (also DC) has suspended Yasar Iqbal, VLW and Raiz Hussain , GRS for not verifying physically the infrastructure and basic minimum facilities at primary school at Keri where the polling station was established.
As the polling parties reached the school building on Monday, they found building without roof, doors, window panes and no provision of light, food and water.
The administration faced humiliation when the video of the building went viral on social media network.
MA Asad, DEO has also stopped the salary of the BDO, Khawas block for not conducting physical verification of the school building at Keri (Khawas block) despite directions to ensure minimum basic facilities.
