Challenges of the retirees

Retirement is supposed to be the reat escape from the stresses inherent in most jobs, a time to experience a fulfilling life derived from many enjoyable and rewarding activities. Retirement life is different because there is no set routine Thousands of Govt. employees retire every year and negligible number of them lead peaceful and comfortable life. Rest always complains of leading their life under stress, although stress comes in all forms and affects people of all ages and all walks of life. An insight into the life style of such persons reveals that they fail to face the challenges of society, relatives and family set up owing to the reasons that during their whole service carrier they maintained distance due to their egoistic and arrogant attitude. Such class of retirees ultimately not accepted by the society and their seclusion from the main stream make them irritable, forcing them to confine to their families which is a soft target to spit their 'venom of seclusion' and in this way they pollute the atmosphere of their home and create unhealthy family atmosphere and contribute in erosion and disintegration of peaceful atmosphere in the family who in turn gets same treatment from the families. On the positive side, retirement can be an opportunity to enjoy life in a new way, the right to stop work and do so many things, you have always wanted to do but never have time for, and a chance to give yourself over to new challenges and adventures. Some suggestive measures to come out of this distress myth in order to lead a peaceful, comfortable and healthy life that will definitely boost the morale of depressed class of retirees are:
n Simplify life style: Simple life has a different meaning and different value for every person. Getting to simplicity is not always a simple process. It is journey not destination. Identify what's most important to you, eliminate everything else. Workday is made up of an endless list of work tasks and home tasks, simplify your list of tasks confining your priority to those tasks which none else can do for you. Limit your communications only to the required level to avoid the junk in your thoughts. Live life more deliberately and most important learn to do nothing. Simplify your budget, buying habits and desist from arguments as their rebuttal leaves indelible prints on the mind and thus acts as catalyst for Stress. Our materialistic society today is about getting more and more, so art of learning enough, keep one away from more and more. n Cultivate habit of meditation: The meditation is personal practice. It is the only way of imbibing inner simplicity. It imbues the correctional thoughts and creates space for inner simplicity in our mind by clearing the mind junk responsible for disintegration of possessive thoughts. The meditation lessens worry, anxiety, stress, loneliness and depression. Meditation increase memory retention, creative thinking and mental fitness. It keeps emotionally well- being, Super Mind and healthier body.
n The prayers: As the meditation is the personal practice, the prayers are the way to request the almighty to provide strength to overcome the difficulties and testing times, one has to come across during his journey of life. The prayers strengthen the eternal powers to overcome the attitudinal and malignant forces responsible for downfall of a person attributed by the effects of 'Kaliyug'. The prayers keep bad thoughts out of mind and in this way one gets bestowed with the showers of blessings and goodness from the almighty.
n Cultivate habit of exercises: To tune with the principle of 'sound body have sound mind' exercise plays greatest role to keep a balance between body and mind. Healthy and creative thoughts originate from healthy mind which keeps at a distance, the forces responsible for landing you in Stress.
n Morning walk: The morning walk is best exercise for healthy life. The morning walk is source of ample and proficient energy, immunity booster, reduce risks of heart diseases, strengthens bones and joints, leads to comfortable sleep and blood circulation becomes absolutely perfect. It is natural medication to prevent dementia. The morning walk reduces depression, provides better sleep, less stress, worry and lots more, which are accumulated factors to live long.
n Adopt Yoga: The yoga techniques have been used for centuries as a way to achieve optimal health. It also gives the true experience of religion and reflects spiritual consciousness. Regular yoga practice promotes mental and physical relaxation and develops dynamic will-power. Making use of the breath, life force and concentrated attention, the technique enables one to draw abundant energy consciously into the body, purifying and strengthening all the body part systematically in turn.
n The laughter therapies: Voluntary laughter provides psychological benefits as it is laugh for no reasons. The voluntary laughter by-pass intellectual systems that normally acts as a brake on natural laughter. It boost immunity, prevents heart disease, adds joy and zest to life, enhance resilience, strengthens relationship, attract others to us, helps to relax and recharge. It helps stay emotionally healthy. It maintains cardiovascular health and mood. It tones muscles and improve respiration and immune system is boosted. Laughing is an excellent way to reduce stress in our lives. It helps to cope with and survive a stressful lifestyle.
n Cultivate reading habits: The books are acknowledged as the best friend, true guide and only best life partner of a person. The reading habit never keeps you in seclusion. The books act as barrier in becoming idle brain into devils workshop. The readings widen the field of creativity and gives space to understand true logic of the life. The readings habit tarnish the cumulative thoughts responsible for providing space to the stress and glorified vacuum is created to accommodate filtered thoughts, which enlighten the person to feel a stress free environ.
n Adopt entertainment tips: Music, entertainment and amusement is diet to the mental fatigue. The amusements activate the heart microbes in such a way that an unbecoming person becomes vivacious. Music can alter our mood, stir our emotions. It is one of the best relaxation techniques.
n The social participation: It includes civic engagement and it helps to develop better and more creative ideas and solutions of various issues affecting day to day life. Social participation is an integral part of human life and is the main goals of rehabilitation. One has to ensure that participation implies an action and this action contributes to others. It implies three dimensions i.e. Communication Partners, Conversation and friendship. Time spent with friends affords survival advantage among older adults.
n Manage eating habits: The eating habits play a vital role in maintaining physical as well as mental health. Eat less but healthy rather than more but un-healthy. The eating has to play a vital role in metabolism effects on the physical and mental aspects in the older stage. Sticking to the schedule of intake is very crucial for positive results of eating. Concentrate on more simple liquid balance diet rather than solid spicy food.
n The pilgrimage: The above factors contribute for a smooth life free from stress, anxiety and health hazards, but the actual goal to be achieved in the life is salvation. As per Hindu philosophy salvation means to get rid of re-birth in the cycle of '84 lacs Yonies'. To attain this goal many ways and means have been suggested in religious books and among them pilgrimage is one of them. The pilgrimage to religious places acts as binding material among people of different religions and feeling of brotherhood and oneness creep into the minds of the people. The older people must plan such pilgrimages annually or bi-annually to feel themselves flanked by the deity, they prey to.
