srinagar, Jan 10: The result of 10+2 examination as announced recently by Jammu & Kashmir State Board of School Education (J&K BOSE) has turned out to be a comedy of errors as some candidates having less marks have passed in comparison to those who have got higher marks.
A candidate with roll number 8160277 has been declared successful in the subject of Mathematics despite the fact that the candidate scored only 32 marks out of 100 marks. On the other side a candidate with roll number 8160275 has been declared fail in the subject of Mathematics despite scoring 33 marks out of 100 marks.
The final result of this candidate has been shown as re-appear while as the candidate with roll number 8160277 has been shown pass with second division aggregating 292 marks out of 500 marks. This candidate has been shown pass in the subjects including General English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Sources told Early Times that the results of 10th and 10+2 examinations were full of errors since the Board officials acted in an irresponsible manner while evaluating the answer sheets of the candidates. They said the future of candidates has been somewhat compromised with the board officials being responsible for the same.
"It is somewhat astounding and perplexing that the teachers entrusted with the responsibility of checking answer sheets checked the huge number of sheets within few days. As such the quality of marking has gone down with the students being the ultimate sufferers. One cannot rule out the repetition of the same when 11th class result would be announced," said sources.
Sources said that the invigilators checked more than 1.20 lakh answer sheets within a span of one month following which the results of 10th and 10+2 classes were declared within a span of 10 days or so. They said that humanely it is not possible for an invigilator to check huge number of answer sheets and that too within a short span of time.
"In most of the cases the invigilator have just scanned the answer sheets and not checked the same with devotion, dedication and responsibility. The non-seriousness of these people has virtually ruined the career of hundreds of students. One wonders whether any action would be taken against the errant invigilators or not," said sources.
Sources said that Director School Education Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Itoo has also voiced concern over the lackadaisical attitude of the BOSE officials in ensuring that the results are announced in a hush-hush manner even though the future of students is put to stake in this regard by compromising the evaluation process.
It would be in place to mention here that some of the students who were declared failed in the recently concluded examinations tried to end their life by taking extreme steps to do the same. One cannot rule out the follies of BOSE officials behind the steps taken by such students.
