Wakf Board appoints overage man through 'backdoor'
1/12/2019 11:34:58 PM
Early Times Report
jammu, Jan 12: The management of J&K Wakf Board has allegedly violated the rules by re-employing an over-age person without any notification as the Chief Controller of the board.
Sources in the board informed Early Times that Syed Muhammad Yousuf, a retired tehsildar, who has also served as General Manager, has been re-employed by the management for period of six months.
"Syed Mohammad Yousef, retired Tehsildar, is engaged as Chief Controller/ General Manager (Revenue & Estates Wing) for period of six months from the date he joins. His remuneration shall be last pay drawn in Govt services minus pension", order number 239 of 2019, dated 11/01/2019 read.
Sources familiar with the development, claimed that the post was vacant for last six months, but the arrangements were made in hurry to fill it. "The post fell vacant, when Abdul Rashid Paray quit his job due to his other engagements, Paray was employed by the Board by fulfilling established procedure, through a proper notification and interviews, but in this case engagement has been done in a very fishy manner", they said.
They said that Yousef in past had severed the as General Manager, and he was disengaged as he had exceeded age limit, as per board's services rules. "Former, Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Syed, as chairperson of the Board, had asked the Board management not to continue services of people who were above 62 years of age", they said and added that with change of guard chairperson and vice chairperson, things once again deteriorated in the Board.
They said that there are several other employees, who are enjoying extension for last more than six years. They also appealed Advisor, Khurshid Ganai, who is also chairman of the Board to look into the matter.
Chief Executive Officer of the Board Bashir Ahmad could not be contacted for his comment, as his phone was switched off.
