Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 10 : Recent rain and snow has once again exposed the disaster preparedness of the administration of Kishtwar district.
A video of a patient was carried by people on their backs to reach the nearest health centre situated around fifteen kilometers from his native place in snow bound Kabban area of Padder Sub Division.
As per the details available with "Early Times" Ex Sarpanch of Kabban village Tsering Dawa fell ill a few days ago sought the help of the local villagers for shifting him to nearest Health Center at Atholi Padder a Buddhist village having no road connectivity.
Speaking to "Early Times", Dr Nawang Tundup, General Secretary Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Society said that the people of Padder area are going through difficult times adding that the whole area lacks proper health facilities .
He accused the former coalition government of failing to fulfil its promises.
He said that this video is not an isolated case. "People have travelled 30-35 KM on foot to reach the health center in the past," he said.
It is pertinent to mention that the people of Kishtwar District yesterday held a strong protest outside Police Station as well as within the hospital premises over the failure of the administration in providing solace to the people and the patients at District Hospital.
The angry people raised slogans against DC Kishtwar for his failure in arranging a chopper for airlifting of the critical patients including the one resident of Utter Pradesh who is running a tea stall at Bus Stand Kishtwar.
They said that no medicine, no electricity or heating arrangements were available at District Hospital Kishtwar where poor patients from far flung areas of Kishtwar District are undergoing the treatment.
Following massive outcry, former MoS Home and MLC from Kishtwar also join the protestors and slammed the District administration for their failure added that there is no ration, no kerosene, no electricity available to the people while at the same time the inefficient District Administration is watching the same helplessly.
He later took up the matter with senior government and only then the chopper from Kashmir was press into service for shifting the critical patients to GMC Jammu for further treatment.
Later Kichloo also announce one dozen Solar Lights for NGO Ababeel and Hospital to carry out emergency services as there are remote chances of restoration of electricity due to collapse of six 132 KV transmission line providing electricity supply to Kishtwar District.
