As per last reports authorities have not been able to restore the power supply in most of the villages in these twin districts of Chenab valley. Details available with Early Times reveal that most of the rural areas in Doda and Kishtwar districts especially areas like Gandoh , Kahara , Chabba, Batogra , Malanoo , Halaran , Chunyas are suffering a lot as authorities have neither cleared the internal roads from snow not has the electricity supply been restored. The local residents have appealed Chief Secretary and Divisional Commissioner Jammu to come to their rescue.
" From last 7 days our area is without electricity. Our area provides electricity to almost whole of J&K and to some neighbouring states , but people of Kishtwar and Doda including many areas of Ramban area suffering a lot due to official negligence. Even the village roads have not been cleared of snow. I ask Government why cannot they undertake snow clearance under NREGA in villages of Doda and Kishtwar . Local youth will get jobs as this crucial time and this will help Government also as villages roads will be thrown open. I appeal Chief Secretary and Divisional Commissioner Jammu to intervene " said Moulana Mukhtar Alam resident of Batogra village
"Our resources are being vandalized by authorities, our forests were destroyed to make hydro-power projects in Kishtwar and Doda areas , but when it comes to supply of un interrupted power , we hardly get it. We will not tolerate this step-motherly treatment of Government. Our district is without electricity from last 7 days and nothing is being done Even most of the villages have not been cleared of snow . Why can't Rural Develost2pment Department utilize NREGA funds for road clearance in villages ? " said Shahab ul Haq PDP District President Doda while talking to Early Times
