Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 14: In a new twist to gruesome double murder case of BJP state secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Kumar Parihar, who were shot dead by the militants in the heart of Kishtwar town last year, Kishtwar police on the basis of complaint filed by National Investigation Agency (NIA) registered a fresh FIR against HuJI militant turned BJP worker on the basis of the recoveries made by the NIA from his home during a raid.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the NIA in its complaint filled with Kishtwar police stated that NIA conducted raids in connection with Parihar Murder case (referred to killings of Ajeet Parihar & Anil Parihar) in the house of Irshad Ahmed Kant alias MD son of Abdul Rasheed Kant resident of Huller Kishtwar and found ammunition there-which was seized and seizure was handed over to Police for registration of an FIR against him.
On this receipt of information case FIR No. 36/2019 U/S 7/25 Arms Act was registered against him and was accordingly arrested.
After filling the fresh FIR at Police Station Kishtwar, Kishtwar police produced the arrested political activist in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar who sent the accused to 10-day police remand for further investigations into the case.
Following the arrest of former HuJI militant, the NIA has intensified the probe and has also rounded up few suspects.
It is pertinent to mention that the Ministry of Home Affairs had decided to handover the probe into the double murder case to NIA and issued directions to top brass of NIA to take over the probe from Special Investigation Team of Kishtwar police.
Early Times was the first newspaper to report that the case has been handed over to NIA. As per the order issued Dharmender Kumar, Under Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs CTCR Division vide order dated 26-11-2018 has issued the order to hand over the probe to NIA.
Family members of the deceased Parihar brothers had demanded NIA probe into the killings and wanted that NIA should probe the case on all possible angles including "politically motivated killing executed through militants".
The official sources said that J&K police would continue to assist the NIA in conducting the raids, arrest the accused and will also provide manpower to the NIA as and when required by them.
