Seeking credit for Radio station Udhampur, Jatinder Singh turns mute on closure of AIR Dogri unit
3/21/2019 11:38:26 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 21: Union Minister of State and Mos PMO Dr. Jatinder Singh on Wednesday tried to claim credit for starting Radio Station Udhampur but preferred silence on the closure of All India Radio's Dogri Unit in New Delhi. Moreover, he blamed State Government for its reluctance approve the Shahpur-Kandi barrage and hailed Governor rule.
During a series of Mandal (Block) level meetings with BJP Karyakartas as well as Sarpanches and Punches in different Assembly segments, Dr Jatinder Singh accused Congress and its allies of deliberately holding back important national and central projects in Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency.
Taking credit for starting Radio Station Udhampur, Dr. Jatinder Singh said, "Why Radio Station in Udhampur had to start only now, even though the demand was first made during the 1965 war".
Interestingly, Dr. Singh preferred to stay quiet on the closure of All India Radio Dogri Unit in New Delhi, during the tenure of BJP led Union government.
"The Dogri Unit at New Delhi was closed down in 2017 and the staff was sent back to Jammu, whereas the Kashmiri unit of AIR at New Delhi is still running at New Delhi", the Dogri writers had observed during Dogri conference in Jammu.
They had further alleged, "AIR unit was closed at a time when Dr. Jatinder Singh was Minister in Union cabinet and BJP was in power but despite that he had failed to stop such regressive step against Dogras and Dogri", an academician said.
Moreover, Dr. Jatinder Singh also blamed state government for showing reluctance on Shahpur-Kandi barrage project. "It was only after the intervention of the Modi government that the Shahpur-Kandi barrage project was revived but even though the Punjab government was ready to go ahead, the State government was still reluctant and could be approved only after the imposition of the Governor's rule", he said, according to press release forwarded to all media houses. Dr. Jatinder Singh seemingly forgot that his own party was sharing power with PDP in the Jammu and Kashmir and two BJP legislators were PHE, Irrigation and Flood control Ministers in coalition government.
Moreover, Dr. Jatinder Singh also tried to claim credit for inauguration of Katra Railway Station, which he claimed was also delayed by Congress government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated Katra Railway station on July 4, 2014 and the BJP led union government took reins in May 2014, then was it the case that in two months everything got completed?, a politician questioned.
"Public is well aware about the misdeeds of Congress as well as BJP. The politicians should desist from befooling general public otherwise these politicians will lose confidence of public", an academician said.
