Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Mar 24: Despite clear directions of the Election Commission of India not to carry any specific politically motivated developmental activity, the In charge storekeeper of PHE Hydraulic Division Kishtwar released around 400 pipes for distribution among the political workers in one of the Panchayat of block Thakrie which was later seized by the police from a private truck.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the Truck Bearing Registration No. JK08A-0635 left the PHE store along with over 400 PHE pipes given to the disposal of the husband of a newly elected Sarpanch from Thakrie area and was soon stopped by the police at various Nakkas following the complaint from the locals and some whistleblowers.
The locals informed the "Early Times" that the pipes were meant for distribution among some blue eyed persons to gain their votes during ongoing parliamentary elections for a particular party and called upon the authorities to initiate action against the government officials involved in favoring the particular party in the ensuing elections.
The incident which was reported yesterday was also raised before the SSP Kishtwar during his meeting with the media persons and in response the SSP Kishtwar inform that the matter is being looked into.
After halting the truck carrying the PHE pipes, it was kept the night at a police post Thakrie, but today afternoon the truck was allowed to l move and was directed to report back to PHE store Kishtwar.
According to sources the officials of the department as well as the husband of the newly elected Sarpanch fail to prove that the pipes loaded on the truck was released by the PHE department against any sanctioned work.
Even though during investigation it was found that the pipes were released by the PHE Division Kishtwar, the storekeeper to favour a particular party.
No FIR was registered against any government employee involved in this nor against the person who was on way to Thakrie area along with the said PHE Pipes.
The sources added that despite ECI directions to transfer local employees, nothing was done by the senior PHE officials to implement the directions with letter and spirit.
