Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Mar 26: Following the weapon snatching incident involving the PSO of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Kishtwar police for the first time came up with photographs of seven wanted militants active in Kishtwar District and announced cash prize worth several lakhs and jobs to those who will provide information leading to their arrest or elimination.
Among the seven wanted militants is Junaid Akram Malik, the younger brother of Dr. Waseem Malik accused in September 7, 2011 Delhi High Court blast in which 16 people got killed while several other got injured.
As per the hoarding installed by Kishtwar police outside police station Kishtwar, seven militants viz Mohammad Amin alias Jahingir Saroori, Raiz Ahmed alais Hazari, Osama Bin Javed alias Osama, Mudassir Hussain, Talib Hussain, Jamal Din and Junaid Akram Malik were presently operating from Kishtwar District.
Among the seven militants, Mohammad Amin alias Jahinger Saroori carried a cash award of 12.50 lakhs from J&K police while several other security agencies had also announced cash reward for helping in his arrest.
Similarly NIA has also announced cash award of 10 Lakhs over Juniad Akram Malik who according to former Hizb Militant Rizwan Ahmed was arrested by Kishtwar police alive from encounter site but got killed in Hizb internal rift while he was trying to fleefrom the group. However his dead body has never been found to prove his (Rizwan's) claim that Juniad Akram was killed in group clash.
The sources told ET that Juniad Akram Malik might be alive and active in the area or he might have left the country following the arrest of his brother by NIA in connection with the Delhi High Court blast case. Junaid's brother Waseem Akram Malik who was pursuing MBBS from Bangladesh was arrested by the NIA from Indra Gandhi International Airport New Delhi on 4-10-2011 after his family members recalled him to hand him over to NIA for investigation and is presently lodged in Tihar jail.
Speaking to "Early Times" SSP Kishtwar Shakti Pathak said that the aim and objective of installing the hoardings displaying photographs of the active militants is to seek the public help in arresting them.
He urged the people to provide an information regarding the whereabouts of the militants displayed in the hoardings.
SSP Kishtwar said that all the paths connecting Kishtwar District with South Kashmir are closed due to snowfall including Sinthan Pass. He said that police station of Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan are also on alert along with the army.
