Ex-BJP MLA allegedly assaults Sarpanch in Ramnagar
4/14/2019 9:31:18 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 14: Infuriated over the local ex-BJP MLA for assaulting a Sarpanch of village Kheen in Ramnagar on Saturday evening, Gagan Pratap Singh State Secretary JKNPP accused R.S Pathania of unleashing a reign of terror in his constituency during the Lok Sabha elections.
"He has been enjoying immunity from legal action despite his highly scandalous, corrupt and opprobrious conducts ever since he had become a legislator. He should be immediately booked under the law", said Gagan. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Rebuking the ex-MLA known for his notoriety and criminal antecedents, Singh said it was a glaring instance in democracy that an ex-lawmaker who had come to address a public meeting at village Kheen assaulted a Sarpanch when latter questioned R.S Pathania about his poor performance as legislator.
"When the elected head of the Panchayat asked the BJP ex-MLA to give account of his work to the people, he got infuriated and directed his gun wielding PSOs to physically abuse the Sarpanch. The PSOs took no time to obey his orders and thrashed the Sarpanch in full public view. Several others who had intervened to save the village head also bore the brunt of the ruthless assault", said Gagan.
Sensing trouble during the elections, R.S Pathania along with his security guards fled from the spot leaving the victims in the pool of blood, rued Gagan. He further recalled that the ex- MLA during his tenure had also manhandled, assaulted and dragged the teacher out of the school in front of the staff and students by ordering policemen and his PSOs.
Lambasting the BJP responsible for running 'goondaraj' under its rule, Singh regretted the ex-MLA openly indulged in open defiance of law with none to take cognizance in view of the political patronage enjoyed by him. He said there were more than two dozen criminal complaints besides corruption charges against the former lawmaker pertaining to encroachment of Forest lands, illegal smuggling of conifer trees, swindling of subsidies from horticulture and agriculture departments, money extortion from officers of various departments in the name of transfers besides others.
