Omar, Mehbooba shamelessly expose each other on twitter
4/14/2019 11:01:26 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 14: Months after jointly staking claim over the government formation, PDP and NC are out to expose each other, desperate to tell to the world who was more close to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the past.
On Sunday, PM Modi hit out at NC and PDP, stating that the BJP will not allow the two parties to divide the country. He also accused Jammu and Kashmir's political families, the Abdullahs and the Muftis, of ruining three generations of the state and trying to divide India.
Addressing a rally in Kathua, Modi said, "The bright future of J&K can be ensured only after their departure."
Referring to National Conference leader Omar Abdullah's demand for a separate PM for Jammu and Kashmir, Modi said, "They can bring their entire clan into field, can abuse Modi as much as they want but they won't be able to divide this nation."
However, Omar Abdullah reacted to the statement on his twitter handle and shared a picture of PDP founder Mufti Sayeed and PM Modi hugging each other. Beneath the picture, Omar wrote caption: "This is how Modiji believes what he says. Look how happy he is to seal an alliance with one of the families he was to ride J&K of."
Merely 45 minutes later, PDP chief and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti replied to Omar's tweet and shared another picture in which Omar Abdullah is seen welcoming PM Modi at the airport. As a caption to the pic, Mehbooba wrote: "Exhibit B. Modiji looks thrilled to be greeted by a dynast."
Such a mudslinging between NC and PDP leaders is to new but on twitter this has taken a new form. According to a tech savvy NC leader, there are photo banks kept by both the party leaders in their phones so that same could be used against each other. According to him, same happened in case of PM Modi's speech and its subsequent reaction by Omar and Mehbooba.
Moreover, the chances of any new bonhomie between the two parties look bleak at present as they have stepped up the campaign against each other more rigorously.
PDP's senior leader and Mehbooba's trusted lieutenant Naeem Akhtar on Sunday launched a fresh salvo at NC patriarch Farooq Abdullah and Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad, accusing both of them of "facilitating BJP's policies in Jammu and Kashmir."
The PDP leader accused Farooq Abdullah of wanting MPship to save his skin and Ghulam Nabi Azad of ensuring that he gets his permanent seat in the Rajya Sabha.
"BJP would draw a blank from the state if NC and Congress had continued the spirit of the initiative by the three parties last time to form a government. If it was good then, why was it changed now?" Akhtar asked.
He said that both Azad and Farooq Abdullah insidiously helped BJP to implement its divide and rule policy because Farooq Abdullah faces imminent threat of going to jail due to the infamous cricket scam and Ghulab Nabi Azad would have lost his seat in Rajya Sabha.
