Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Apr 14: National Conference President Farooq Abdullah faced a hostile crowd as he was returning after addressing an election rally in the Mir Behri area falling in the interiors of Dal Lake.
Eyewitnesses told Early Times that NC President was booed away in the Chana Mohalla locality of Rainawari area after addressing an election rally in the Mir Behri. The agitated youth from the area accused the NC President of playing with emotions of the people of Jammu & kashmir especially the youth.
As the situation turned volatile in the area Jammu & Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel lobbed smoke shells on the agitating youth. It was only after the action of police and CRPF personnel that the agitated youth left the scene.
The agitated youth raised slogans against the National Conference and said that the party like the other mainstream parties of Kashmir valley have always exploited the sentiments and emotions of the youth of Kashmir for their own means.
Due to the action of Police and CRPF personnel there was panic in the entire Rainawari area and the adjacent areas. The NC cavalcade led by the party President had to flee from the area and it was only after this that the situation turned normal in the area.
Farooq in his address said that PM Narinder Modi and BJP President Amit Shah are the biggest enemies of people who believe in dividing the nation on basis of caste, creed and religion saying that people have made it a point not to fall prey to the divisive agenda of BJP.
"These people want to change the very framework of the Constitution of India, which grants equal rights and opportunities to everyone. It is the constitution of India which grants rights to profess any faith. It is the same constitution that confers upon our state certain constitutional safe guards. It is the same constitution which grants our state a special status by means of Art 35 A and Art 370. These people have always shown abhorrence for our special status and special constitutional position," he said adding, "The other day BJP came up with its manifesto which explicitly reflects the hatred BJP boasts for the identity of our state. They have forcefully vowed to do away with the provisions of Art 370, Art 35 A in that manifesto," he said.
Farooq said that the parliament elections are significant since it will decide if India remains secular or not. "Our fight is with the divisive forces. We should utilize our power of vote to show such forces as are inimical to our special status their right place. They can go to any extent to grind their axe; they will use men, money and machinery to coerce the voters. However, the need of the hour demands us to remain united and vigilant of their machinations. This time we are voting for our identity and the integrity of our state. Any mistake by us will have serious repercussions for the coming generations of ours."
