Udhampur admin forgets Capt. Tushar's sacrifice

Udhampur, Apr 20: A large number of people of Udhampur, including some Army officers, soldiers, ex-servicemen and school students on Saturday paid tributes to Captain Tushar Mahajan on his 29th birth anniversary. Captain Tushar's father Dev Raj, however, lamented that all promises made by the authorities after his son's death remain unfulfilled.
Dev Raj told Early Times that at the time when his son Captain
Tushar attained martyrdom, government had promised to rechristen Udhampur Railway Station as Capt. Tushar Mahajan Railway station and a park in the name of Capt. Tushar to pay homage and remember supreme sacrifice of Captain Tushar who was martyred in an encounter with terrorists at EDI building at Pampore in Kashmir on February 21, 2016. But till date the promises remain on papers only.
Dev Raj added that even after three years the government failed to keep the promises. "Though I have lost my son, I am proud that he laid down his life for the nation, an honour which only a few can get," said Dev Raj. "My son wanted to be in the Army.
His passion was to serve the country," Dev Raj said. "My son's martyrdom should not go waste and the politicians should work to set the things right. How many children will attain martyrdom? When will our politicians realize this," he asked.
He added that Jammu and Kashmir government has no place for the martyrs. "After the martyrdom of my son, politicians as well as leaders made tall promises but their promises have fallen flat. Many letters were written to the Northern Railways, the Central Ministry, and others to remind them of their promises, but to no avail."
Dev Raj added that recently he met with Governor SP Malik who told him that the Model Code of conduct was in place and that the promises would be fulfilled after the MCC is over.
Captain Tushar had joined NDA Khadgwasla, Pune in June 2006 after completing 12th class. After his training at NDA and then one year training at IMA Dehradun, he joined 9-Para (SF) in June 2010 at Udhampur. He made the supreme sacrifice for the sake of nation at a very young age.
Many times youth of Udhampur as well as the prominent citizens of Udhampur have demanded that the Udhampur Railway station should be named after the brave heart and a park should be constructed in the name of the martyr to remember his supreme sacrifice.
Dev Raj also added that the district administration Udhampur as well as District Police have no time to pay tribute to his martyred son.
