Mehbooba's fate linked with Anantnag constituency results
4/22/2019 11:27:56 PM
The fate of PDP Chief, Mehbooba Mufti is linked with the electyion that may take place after two days. And senior politicians those belonging to the National Conference and the Congress view the Anantnag results quite keenly because success of Mehbooba means success of her Government that she had forged with BJP.Now that BJP and the PDP are poles apart as far as their ideology is concerned but the success of Mehbooba is quite import ant for the NC and the Congress leaders.Elections are just two days away, but Anantnag is silent. Political activity, if any, has been restricted to high-security areas. Even the banners, buntings and posters of political parties and candidates are missing.
Anantnag seems to be in a mood to boycott And the separatists are bound to call for shutdown and protest rallies.Besides this they may call for voters to boycott the polling and that has been the reason for over 14 per cent polling in Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency..
During the last over one year south Kashmir especially Anantnag,Kulgam,Shopian and Pulwama have been the battle ground between the security forces and the militants and their supportersIf the security forces have achieved success in eliminatin g top militants it is in south Kashmir areas. That is the reason that poll campaign has been on a low key and knowing that militants and the separatists may play rough the security forces have upgraded their security grid. When in the entire state here has been a poster war but Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency has remained bereft of this post war and flag war.
If the separatists give a call for boycott of the polling one could say that Anantnag may witness poor polling. But experts say that it could not be as poor as witnessed in Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency.People, rather voters, have learnt the l,esson in Srinagar LS constituency where separatists supported by militants did not attack any voter. This way it depends on the campaign of the contesting candidates whether they will turn the poll boycott call to polling high percentage. It depends on the voters who need to be out of scare of militants and the separatrists.
