Changing colours of Farooq, Mehbooba
4/25/2019 11:19:40 PM
Early Times Report
srinagar, Apr 25: There is an old saying that politicians change colours like chameleons. The phrase applies to Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti. Both the party presidents change their statements in the same way as seasons change during a year.
Slamming the separatists and militant groups on Thursday, while addressing a public gathering at Qazigund in south Kashmir, the NC president said a major "conspiracy" is being hatched to boycott the polls.
"Poll boycott has led to killings and bloodshed in the past. Did these so called poll boycotts relieve you of your problems? Guns will never help us achieve anything," he said.
"What are you afraid of? A Muslim with strong faith should never fear anyone except his Lord," Farooq said asking people not to be scared for exercising their franchise.
He was once supporting the stone pelters and separatists for anti-national politics.
In the past once he supported militants and stone pelters saying that they were sacrificing their lives for the nation.
"I want to tell Hurriyat leaders not to go separate but be united and we are standing with you. Don't consider us as your enemies. As long as you (separatists) won't follow the wrong path, we will support you in this cause," Farooq had said.
In one of the statements, he had said militants in Kashmir are not fighting for a political position but for freedom of Kashmir.
Similarly, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday termed the attempts of Enforcement Directorate and National Investigation Agency to summon the Hurriyat leaders and their family members as vindictive politics.
Addressing a rally at Kulgam district in south Kashmir, she said that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was summoned by the NIA and Yaseen Mailk faced detention and constant harassment. "This shows the sheer desperation of the centre," she claimed.
When Mehbooba was heading the PDP-BJP government, she would remain silent on important issues.
She has even visited militant families, which is apparently part of her election campaign to woo voters in upcoming polls.
Apologizing for her 'toffee and milk' remark, she has said, "I was in anger in 2016 when I told why the children are being pushed to police stations and army camps. It pains me that some people with vested interests are pushing young boys to get killed."
