Early Times Report

Jammu, May 18: Taking serious note of growing incidents of protests by some PRI members and villagers who resort to road blockade/obstruction of traffic movement and thus create public nuisance, District Magistrate (DM), Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana issued an order for initiation of strict action against the protestors under Section 133 (read with Section 143 of Code of Criminal Procedure,1973 ).
As per the details available with Early Times, the order issued by DM reads that, " Whereas, for the last few days, some PRI members as well as people of different villages from Mughal Maidan, Bunjwah and Nagseni have been found involved in road blockade at various places viz. Dedpath
( Mugal Maidan), Bunjwah and Dool (Nagseni) respectively thereby putting general public, government employees as well as patients to a lot of inconvenience added that it is really strange to note that the concerned PRI members / protestors instead of approaching the office of DDC regarding redressal of their genuine issues / demands in an amicable manner prefer to hold protest in an unlawful way for the sake of publicity and fame while adopting wrongful means.
The order further stated that the road blockades not only affect regular traffic movement but also force the general pubic, commuters, patients as well as government employees to great inconvenience and agony beside in emergency case, the serious patient who is moved from his residential place towards distrct Hospital , Kishwar or Jammu for advance treatment get stuck in said road bockades held by protestors is likely to die midway for want of timely treatment.
"Whereas, holding of protest in an unwarranted manner as per whims and caprice of the protestors involving Sarpanches and Panches who are considered to be responsible , well awared and prudent persons in the society holding the pivotal posts under the J&K Panchayati Raj Act of 1989 certainly gives wrong impression in the general public and have the potentiality of instigating other PRI memers/villagers to follow their illegal way of resoring to agitation by means of road blockade / restraining traffic movement etc." order further reads." Read the order.
Acting tough against protestors who are indulged in creating public nuisance and in view of prevailing circumstances, DM Kishtwar asked Senior Superintendent of Police , Kishtwar to ensure strict action against the erring persons/ protestors involved in creating nuisance/criminal tresspas through illegal road blockades/ obstruction in traffic movement as warranted under Section 133 read with Section 143 of Code of Criminal Procedure,1973.
