Early Times Report
Jammu, May 21: Former Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary and Sarpanch Jyoti Moton accused police officials for misbehaving with lady Sarpanch along with other females during the anti-encroachment drive at Village Chak Sardar Attar Singh and slammed them for calling them land grabbers.
Interacting with media persons, Sarpanch Jyoti Moton said that Jammu Development Authority deliberately targeted poor people without serving any legal notice. "Where JDA for last 50 years, when the land is made for development then JDA suddenly came for demarcation of the area and where poor people will go," she asked to JDA.
Slamming police approach, she also said police officials misbehaved with her as well as other females who dared to ask questions to Police and other officials. She added that like other areas, keeping in view of the need of poor people this land should be regularized and people are ready to give compensation to JDA like others. "Why are poor people being targeted by officials," she also asked.
Speaking on the occasion, former Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary accused senior most police officer of calling them (locals) land grabbers, they are not land grabber actually they are land protectors who saved land for last 50 years by cultivating.
"Land grabbers are those who sold Nanak Nagar, Belicharana, Bathindi and other areas and also those who sold forest land. Those who were backing anti-encroachment drive; these are the main supporters of the land grabbers in Jammu and Kashmir and giving shelter to them. We are not against it but they should retrieve the land from encroachers who grabbed Land of Tawi River, they don't have the courage to vacate the said land, "he accused.
He demanded like other areas included Nanak Nagar, Bathindi and a colony near to Bawa, this area should be regularized.
