Will Lotus Bloom Again?
Omkar Dattatray5/22/2019 9:01:28 PM
At the time of writing this write up, nothing certain can be said about the precise outcome of the general election 2019 which are historical no more than one way. But then so far as the exit poll predictions by various exit poll agencies is concerned they show NDA coming back to power once again with thumping majority and crossing the marks of 300 this time and even surpassing the election results of 2014. However, one thing should be borne in mind that exit poll are exit poll and are not actual polls and therefore they are at the best future projection and cannot be called real in any manner. Then this show at least which way the wind will blow after 2019 elections. The real picture will be clear in the afternoon of 23rd May 2019 when the vote counting will be at its peak and the vote outcome will be known and therefore nothing certain can be said about the election results as to which party or parties will come to power after 2019 historical elections. So in spite of the poll projections claiming NDA coming back to power, nothing specific and certain can be said at this moment as the exit poll estimates are projections and the real and final picture will be clear on 23rd may. But at the present moment all that one can say is that since all exist poll projections have predicted NDA sweeps and its coming back to power and it is welcome development for BJP & its allies forming NDA. At the same time exit polls have predicted downfall of UPA. India today, Axis my India exit poll has predicted 339 to 365 seats to others. Congress will have great setback in U.P, M.P, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Uttrakhand and other northern states and even in Southern states as per the exit poll outcomes. In the Hindi heartland of UP Congress will have to be content with only 1 to 2 seats in spite of the parties best efforts and the Priyanka's entry could not help the sagging morale of the party. It follows that Congress will retain only its bastion of Rai Bareilly and Amethi which are the traditional strong holds of the party. Poll of polls gives NDA 303 seats and UPA 122 seats. Exit polls show the direction and the likely results and they are not real results but still there is possibility that NDA will come back to power this time again and it shows that Modi magic and charisma has worked this time round in spite of Modi Vs all syndrome and they are could not dent the image of Modi wave if exit poll are any India are any indications. But one thing is clear that no political party or group of parties can stake claim for the formation of government on the basis of exit poll outcomes. It is only the real results. On the day of counting that will clear the position and mist of confusion regarding election results. Then so far as the exit polls by various agencies are concerned, it is obvious that the lotus will bloom again and BJP led NDA will storm back to power with thumping majority. Thus there is every likely hood of NDA retaining power this time again and the lotus blooming again. The Modi charisma and magic has worked and the congress and Mahagathbandhan could not dent the prospects of Modi coming back to power if exit poll indications are taken into consideration. BJP's emphasis on nationalism, booth management issues, and to top it all reservation to the economically backward among upper castes worked wonders and made it possible for Modi to storm to power once again and defeating the arch rival congress, UPA and the mahagathbandhan. Therefore, in spite of Modi Vs all they could not impact the voters in their favour if exit polls are any indication. The mercurial Mamata Banerjee and TMC Supremo has said that exit polls are gossips and she does not trust exit polls. The exit poll outcomes have unnerved the opposition parties and they are cursing exit polls and the EVM's and even the ECI which is a very disturbing development. All exit polls predict another term for Modi, some forecasting 350 plus seats for NDA. Majority of exit polls on Sunday forecast that BJP led NDA will get more than 300 seats to comfortably cross the majority mark of 272 seats in the 17th Lok Sabha. According to ABC Nelson BJP's tally in UP may fall to 22 from 71 while a few others like News 18-jpsor & News 24-Chankya tipping its tally over 60 seats. The Saffron party to all set to make major gains in eastern states of West Bangal and Odisha . Exit polls by News 18-Ipson, India Today -Axis and News 24 - chanakya projected 336, 339-368 and 336-364 seats respectively for NDA, with BJP tipped to cross the majority on is own for another term. But the two exit polls - one by ABP-news Nielsen and another by Neta News X said the ruling alliance may fall short of a majority. ABP News forecast 267 & News X242 seats for ruling NDA. The Times Now telecast two exit polls giving NDA 296 and 306 seats while projecting 126 and 132 for UPA. The C Voter Republic exit poll has forecast 287 and 128 seats for NDA and UPA. Whatever it is there is every possibility of BJP led NDA coming back to power with comfortable majority and defeating all prediction of the opposition parties. Thus there is all likelihood of the lotus blooming once again and Modi coming to power to take India to new heights after 2019. It seems that people by and large have reposed trust in Modi's policies and programmes and his way of working and forming a strong government after elections. Thus in Modi's terminology there is the likelihood of a 'Mazboot Sarkar' than a 'Majboor Sarkar' and the voters seems to have put their stamps on Modi & his way of working and his bold policies. In brief if exit polls are only indication & if they turn out to be real, the Modi juggernaut will sweep back to power crossing all hurdles and obstructions & the lotus will bloom once again. But then one should appreciate the fact that exit polls are not exact polls and cannot be wholly believed.
