Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 22: Successive National Conference-Congress and Peoples Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janta Party governments in the state have failed a substantial chunk of government employees who despite pulls and pressures have been discharging their duties without any fail.
Sources told Early Times that the people at helm have failed to conduct Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting for senior pharmacists and supervisor pharmacists working the health department for a long period of time. They said that despite repeated reminders no action whatsoever has been taken so far.
"No DPC whatsoever has been conducted for senior and supervisor pharmacists in the health department. At the same time the pay anomaly with respect to these officials has not been removed and this too is pending for lot of time," said sources.
Sources said that the file in this regard is pending at the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir for the past one year or so. They said the officers who were supposed to take action in this regard are sitting over the file while doing nothing.
"Salary is not being released in favour of pharmacists who are working against identical posts for the last one year. This file is also pending at the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir and no headway has been made in this regard," said sources.
Sources said that promotion of 127 pharmacists who were left out during the Own Pay Grade (OPG) promotion in March 2019 for their promotion as senior pharmacist is also not being done by the concerned department. This file is also pending at the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir.
"The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has failed to respond to the administrative department direction regarding promotion of pharmacists to the posts of Block Pharmacy Officer and District Pharmacy Officer. The file is pending since the last one year or so," said sources.
Sources said that despite all the odds the pharmacists have been working at all the health centres without any fail. However, the people at helm seem to be least bothered about the problems being faced by this all important component of the health department, they said.
In the meantime, the association of pharmacists recently called on Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Atal Duloo and projected their demands before the bureaucrat.
The association known as Jammu & Kashmir Government Pharmacists Association headed by its President Sheikh Mehraj-ud-din presented a memorandum of demands to the Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education department. They urged Duloo to take the requisite measures in this regard at the earliest.
