PDP gets 3 out of 46 Assembly seats in Kashmir
The complete whitewash!
5/25/2019 11:38:40 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 25: One wonders what could have been PDP's fate if assembly and parliament polls would have been held together, the party could have won just three assembly seats out of Kashmir's 46 assembly segments.
There were only three assembly seats that too all situated in South Kashmir namely Bijbehara, Pulwama and Rajpora where PDP had a lead of few hundred votes. Surprisingly, PDP led by 16 votes in Bijbehara assembly constituency. In Pulwama assembly constituency, PDP led by 120 votes while in Rajpora assembly it led by 394 votes.
In all other 46 assembly constituencies, PDP lost miserably, reflecting that this time around it is going to be pretty hard for the party to even gain a meagre significance within the corridors of power.
The anti-India strategy that was adopted by the PDP during polls seems to have failed miserably as same hasn't yielded a single positive outcome for the party. "No party in the history of Jammu and Kashmir has seen such a ruthless defeat. It has been whitewashed in all assembly constituencies of Kashmir and even its bastion South Kashmir where there are 16 assembly segments, it has lost 12 in one go. Is there anything else needed to prove that the doom of the party has arrived and no one can safeguard its sinking ship," says a senior NC leader.
Meanwhile, an anonymous PDP leader also admitted that the pro-Pakistan and anti India line didn't yield any positive result for the party.
Interestingly, in April this while addressing people in Noorabad as south Kashmir, Mehboba answered on behalf of the Pakistan, saying that country hasn't kept its Nuclear Bomb for Eid- hinting directly that Pakistan can use it against India. The PDP President was asked by press to respond to the statement of the Prime Minister Modi in which he gave clear warning to Pakistan not to allow misuse of its soil against India and that India has not kept its nuclear weapons for Diwali.
As Mehbooba was ought to support her country for the stern warning to Pakistan- she did exactly the opposite- warning her own country while boosting the morale of Pakistan in an unprecedented manner.
This was not for the first time the PDP has preferred to become Pakistan's Cheer leader. On February 4, this year, the party issued a detailed statement in which it objected to Prime Minister's remark of breaking the backbone of militancy. The PDP predicted the policy will fail to yield any desired results. The party even equated the situation in Kashmir with Afghanistan and pitched for dialogue with militants again.
It remains now to be seen that what line the party is going to adopt as assembly polls are coming closer . What would be the slogans and what would be the calls to take back the lost bastions.
