Early Times Report

JAMMU, June 11: Tulmulla pilgrims today criticized the authorities for playing traunt with them.
Hundreds of pilgrims who went to holy shrine from Jammu in Government arranged buses said that they were awakened at 5 am this morning and asked to be ready for return journey.
The pilgrims said even they were not allowed to wash face or go to toilet.
Some pilgrims having hypertension and diabetes said they were not allowed to have a mild breakfast which is much necessary for them before taking medicine to keep their blood sugar level and hypertension down.
The yatris said despite making pleas to concerned nothing moved.
The role of officials in this regard has generated a lot of resentment among the pilgrims and they have decided to bring the matter in the notice of Governor, Satya Pal Malik.
They said if such is the role of authorities towards the displaced Pandits then one fails to understand how can they ensure return of the community possible.
They said there were no proper arrangements at the Shrine. The administration had not taken steps for cleaning bath rooms and urinals which were stinking.
Even the water was leaking from bath room tanks and taps which were open. There were cess pools of water in bathrooms and it was a nightmarish exercise to go for urination there.
This was also alleged by the activists of local social organisations who had installed stalls to serve drinking , water, juice and other refreshment to pilgrims.
Mir Ghulam Rasool head of People's Welfare Society Ganderbal which had installed a stall to welcome pilgrims and revive old traditions of brotherhood said the organisation managing the shrine is answerable to people for it's mismanagement.
Mir said the management should look towards Golden Temple where management serves lakhs of pilgrims and yatris daily in a disciplined way. There is no chaos seen at Golden Temple where thousands of pilgrims visit daily while the management at Tulmulla is unable to control few thousand people who visit the holy shrine on the occasion Kheer Bhawani Mela which is held once a year.
He said the shrine has a lot of income and authorities should ascertain where it goes and ensure that the donations thus received are not misused, he added.
