Early Times Report

Jammu, June 17: After remaining in deep slumber during tenure of coalition government, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are becoming so desperate for photo opportunities that they don't even hesitate to re-inaugurate works, which fall in others' domain.
On Monday morning, the desperation of BJP leaders including former legislator from Gandhi Nagar constituency Kavinder Gupta and MLC Vikram Radhawa, was evident, when they firstly exchanged heated arguments with Corporator of Ward number 57 Inderjeet Kour and later re-inaugurated the works, already inaugurated by the Corporator.
According to locals, the Corporator of the Ward was scheduled to inaugurate blacktopping works in the Marakhi Mohalla, road of which was in dilapidated condition for the last over many years and legislator had not paid any attention.
After repeated attempts by locals as well as the Corporator, the blacktopping work was approved by Jammu Municipal Corporation for Marakhi Mohalla road. Though it was under the plan of local bodies and Corporation but despite out of the government and expiry of their tenure the BJP leaders, still have been leaving no stone unturned to stake claim over all the developmental works, despite the fact that the BJP leaders have lost in oblivion after winning the elections.
On Monday morning, some of the BJP workers including Gurdeep Singh and Jeevan Jyoti got the ear that Corporator was scheduled to inaugurate the work, they become desperate to stake claim over the work. They gathered some party workers and also invited the former MLA Kavinder Gupta and Vikram Randhawa for inauguration of the work.
As the Corporator Inderjeet Kour was about to inaugurate the blacktopping work, former MLA Kavinder Gupta as well as Vikram Randhawa along with BJP workers, reached the spot and exchanged heated arguments with the Corporator. The locals also raised questions over the presence of MLA and MLC and their staking of claims over development works, under Governor’s rule. "After facing tough resistance from the locals, the ashamed BJP leaders relent for sometime but finally the Corporator inaugurated the blacktopping, they re-enacted the scene", the locals said.
They further informed that MLC Vikram Randhawa, took hold of the rope, while former MLA Kavinder Gupta took spade and got their photographs clicked for media-consumption and re-inaugurated the blacktopping work, minutes after its formal inauguration by the Corporator. "These shameful BJP leaders, have not shown their faces for the last three years and were busy to pocket money by hook or by crook. People vote for Modiji but these leaders have lost ground in every constituency as they have unconnected with masses but now have been doing everything to stake claim over small works", a local said.
