Early Times Report
Jammu, June 23: Alleging being discriminated by the Councillor ward no 58 the residents of Dashmesh Nagar, near Gurudwara said that choked-up drains in their lane have been de-silted by Jammu Municipal Corporation for last three months despite repeated requests by them.
They said that at peak-end of both sides drains have been choked-up and filthy water flowing in the road, that is also in shamble for several years. "We time and again took the matter with concerned agencies i.e. JMC, even few days back a team of JMC comprising labourers came here but the ex-Councillor, Param Jeet Singh, husband of sitting Councillor, Tirth Kour rushed here and directed them to not clean the area", alleged the residents and added the Councillor is in papers only, as her husband playing major role in decision making regarding civic issues of the area.
Talking to Early Times team during today's visit in the area locals Paramjeet Singh, Arwant Kumar, Bhupinder Pal Singh, Ashok Jumar, Chaman Lal, Vakil Singh, Pushpa Devi, Paramjeet Kour, Amarnath, Bholi Devi, Gundeep Singh, Ishpal Singh, Harvinder Singh, Jeet Singh Choudhary and Sant Ram said that they clean drains themselves. "Ahead of rainy season we appeal the administration de-silting be done in area, otherwise epidemic can break out in the area in coming days", they said and added that they don't have required equipments, otherwise they would have clean it, on their own.
But, it is also raise questions over PM Modi's "Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas" slogan, who a BJP's Councillor to satisfy his/her ego can leaves over 50 households on the mercy of god. "We all are tax payers, and it is the mandate of JMC to provide basic services", they said and added that would launch an agitation.
They also said that the online public grievance system seems merely eyewash. "All the residents have personally filed complaints on online public grievance system of JMC, even the complaints forwarded to concerned Supervisor, but no further actions have been seen on the grounds", they added.
