KCS mains left out students smell rat in selection

Early Times Report
kishtwar, June 26: After KAS examination fiasco, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has once again come under scanner for all the wrong reasons. This time it's over the selection for KCS mains.
As per the details available with Early Times, the declaration of results evoked severe criticism from the aggrieved candidates on the ground that the PSC has violated the rules in terms of doing selection of mains aspirants by not following the criteria for '1 post 3 candidates call' for interview or '1 post 5 candidates'. But this time the PSC adopted arbitrary criteria of selecting mere 162 aspirants for KCS mains, the result for which was declared on June 20.
A group of aggrieved candidates while talking to Early Times took a dig at the PSC for its "dubious functioning". They said: "This process of PSC of conducting KCS mains is marked by discrepancies as the answer sheets which they have given are that of Range Officer which is really intriguingly as PSC's claims of transparency and accountability fall flat. Even answer booklets were also open which raises eyebrows."
The aggrieved candidates further divulged that PSC this time has done digital evaluation of answer booklets which is not maintainable as PSC did not disclose the same in the notification. It has come as a shocker for all the aggrieved candidates because they had prepared for this prestigious exam and when the result was declared they were shocked on not finding their names in the list.
Another candidate pleading anonymity said that PSC has virtually played with the career of the candidates as it has not disclosed the cut-off for the KCS mains and also that of prelims which clearly shows that PSC works at its whims and fancies and is not bothered about adhering to the norms.
The left out students said that the country's prime recruiting agency, the UPSC, disclosed the cut-off of the exams conducted by them and even after declaration they disclosed the cut-off merit, "but the PSC did not bother to disclose the cut-off the merit."
The aggrieved students urged the PSC to go for manual checking of answer sheets and also disclose the cut-off merit of mains before the start of interview process so that the aspirants who are in dilemma due to their non-selection in mains list could know about the same.
The students appealed to the Governor to intervene to save their precious career by directing the PSC chairman to go for manual checking of the answer sheets and follow the norms of selection in mains so that students do not suffer despite hard work done by them.
It is pertinent to mention that KAS exam (2016) is facing litigation because the aggrieved candidates who didn't qualify the mains knocked the door of High Court and challenged the digital evaluation of answer sheets.
