BARAMULLA, July 15: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel from 176 BN on Monday rescued a 14-year-old girl when she drowned in Nallah Ferozpora near at Chanpora area in north Kashmir's Kunzer in Baramulla district.
Reports said that a minor girl identified as Nageena, slipped into the stream at Tangmarg and was washed away by the strong winds.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a group of six Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel could be seen jumping into the stream to save the girl.
Taking to social networking site Twitter, CRPF wrote: "Constables M.G Naidu & N Upendra of 176Bn @crpfindia performing Road domination duty at Tangmarg on hearing cries fr help frm nearby creek risked their lives to save 14 yr old Nageena who was being swept by an undercurrent. Others formed a human chain 2 rescue her."
An official said that after being rescued by CRPF men, she was immediately shifted to Sub-district hospital Tangmarg for treatment.
However locals of the Tangmarag area have hailed the strenuous efforts of the CRPF jawans, according to them, it was difficult to save the precious life of a teenage girl.
There could have been a tragedy as the CRPF men put their lives in risk, but they made a chain and rescued a girl from drowning, locals told early times over the phone.
Bashir Ahmad of Chanpora said that, Ferozpora nallah remains full of gushing water, though people enjoy it and most of the people who come on picnic enjoy the water by taking bath into the nallah.
I believe the authorities should have installed some kind of speed breakers into the form of net that could sometimes stop the people who gets accidentally drown in the stream, said a local.
He said that, there are some wrong notions about the security forces, but all are not same and should not be dealt equally, great humans do great work and today incident should be appreciated from all quarters.
Meanwhile the higher officials of the state have appreciated the efforts of CRPF men for their efforts in which they saved the life of a teenager girl in Tangmarag area.
