Early Times Report
srinagar, July 15: At a time when SMC took demolition drive today in Srinagar, people in general alleges the department concerned for their mute silence over the issue when scores of buildings were illegally constructed in every nook and corner of the summer capital of JK.
Sources told early times that, dozens of structures have come up in Srinagar city only during past few months only, at that time why the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has remained silent over the issue.
We are not against the demolition, but does it not seems that, it was their negligence and somehow nexus between the building owners whose structures have come up on the opposite sides of a road in various areas of Srinagar, said sources.
Sources said that, where were municipality staff was during the days structures /complexes were erected the owner stand punished but what about the responsible employees who have been paid for discharging their duties and they failed in controlling the menace.
For an instance you take an example of Hawal Iddgah road and Khushalsar side, why the authorities are silent over those structures that have been illegally constructed on the opposite sides of a road, sources informed.
Sudden change in the policy of SMC shows that how serious they are about the construction, irony of the fact is that the owner gets building permission from the same department, but after few time they gets activated over illegal constructions.
Sources also alleges that, if municipality staff is posted in each and every area, then how such illegal constructions have come up, it simply suggests that there is nothing new except money minting business and in real terms, Kashmir is going bad to worst in illegal constructions.
They are de-shaping the city for their self interests and the common masses have failed to understand this whole drama that is going on behest of some so called leaders in city, said sources.
If sources are to be believed they said that, illegal buildings are mushrooming in various parts of Srinagar highway and that too under the nose of the Municipal Corporation (MC) authorities.
These buildings stand tall in violation of building bylaws, but the MC shows its helplessness in stopping such constructions right at the initial stages, due to which common masses always suffers at large, said sources.
They said that. the fact is that there are various reason behind giving permissions of illegal construction but the building bylaws and monitoring of building activities as per sanctioned plans and checking of unauthorized construction is totally ignored by the Municipal committee and Roads and Building and other departments concerned.
