Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 16: Slamming BJP and Congress governments for overlooking their civic issues during their tenure, the shopkeepers and residents of Nehru Market alleged that both parties have completely failed to address civic issues. They held the two parties responsible for dilapidated drains and lanes in the area.
The locals said that waterlogging in rainy season gives some tough moments to the residents.
Sanjeev Gupta said that the link road of Aisa Hotel back side of Lambardar Dhabha is in dilapidated condition over 5 years but no one has paid attention toward the issue due to which the vehicular movement gets affected. "The road without blacktopping and with each passing year, the condition of roads started turning pathetic but none of the politician paid any attention to the area, "Gupta added.
Bodh Raj said that in absence of dustbins in the area, a plot has become garbage dumping yard and during rainy season, shopkeepers and locals People remain sick here due to the smell. The entire plot as well as drains sites has been turned into a dumping site. It attracts stray animals which prove dangerous for drivers
MK Raina said that neither Congress nor BJP gave any attention to their basic civic amenities particular construction of lanes and drains, cleanliness that plagued the area in large. Raina also said that before election, all of them made tall claims of development but after getting elected they forget genuine demands even basic civic amenities.
Bachan Lal Sharma said the callousness of sanitation department can be gauged from the fact that there is no single safaikaramchari who has come to unblock the drains, collecting garbage while in other areas garbage collecting vehicle always come. "You can see choked drains with ploy-bags and leakage of water pipes resulting water logged everywhere but no one is there to solve the basic problems,"he said.
Karpal Singh, Surinder Kumar, Bhushan Kumar, Vinod Sharma, Vikram and Vinay Sharma of Nehru Market told that the drains of the area have created havoc during raining season. Just few minutes rain creates flood like situation and its water enter into their shops and damages all the belongings.
They added that the drains, lanes of the area are in dilapidated condition which need urgent repair but the concerned leaders did nothing. Moreover, no grill has been put on drains to cover and drains are lying open. No cleanliness of drains is done by the authority concerned.
