Congress, BJP leaders forgot us after seeking votes: Trikuta Nagar residents tell Munish
Mass contact programme continues
7/17/2019 12:30:34 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 15: Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta, who would be contesting upcoming assembly election as an independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency, met people from different walks of life at Trikuta Nagar Extension Adrash Enclave, Shanker Vihar of Ward No. 53 on Tuesday. Carrying forward his mass contact programme Munish listened to the woes of people. Residents informed him that the drainage system in their areas has collapsed, road and lanes are in shambles and the scattered garbage everywhere have made their lives miserable. The locals alleged that since last two decades, neither the Congress nor BJP has made any attempt to address the problems plaguing their localities.
Indu Bala of Channi Kalana mohalla said that the uncovered nallah flowing through their mohalla has added to their sufferings. "All the people put their garbage and untreated water into nallah as there is no dustbin in our area. Our repeated pleas to have dustbins placed in our area have fallen flat on deaf ears," she said.
"Our drains are blocked, lanes and by lanes have not been blacktopped since past one decade. All the streetlights are dysfunctional and credit goes to all the representatives who represented our ward as councillors or MLAs. They just come here to seek votes and then disappear", said Jatinder Singh.
The culvert connecting Khowali Gali to lane no 4 of Ward No 53 has been wrecked since many years. The manhole on the culvert poses threat to human lives but nobody has come forward to repair it despite repeated pleas either telephonically or online, said AmarJeet Singh.
Ravinder Singh Lucky alleged that the Khowali Gali is in dilapidated condition and drains are clogged. "Not a single supply pipes was laid down during the tenure of BJP and Congress in our mohalla. Electricity always remains off and low voltage gives us sleepless night. However, before election the local councillor made tall promises with us. She had assured us that all the basic civic amenities would be provided but after getting elected she never visited our locality," he said.
"It is not saga of single lane, all the lanes and by lanes of Ward No 53 are in a dilapidated condition, the garbage is scattered here and there due to non-availability of dustbin and the safaikaramcharis who were deputed for cleanliness have not visited regularly. Heaps of garbage are lying unattended these have become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies", said Rajinder Singh.
Sandeep Kour of KC Colony near CRPF Camp informed Munish that gas agencies have failed to keep up the promise of home delivery.
Sahib Singh (21) and his sister who had applied for getting registered in electoral list in October, 2018 just before the Municipal Corporation election were held are still waiting to get registered in electoral list.
