Jammu, July 16: Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta, on Tuesday urged people not to get carried away by the fresh promises being made by the "seasonal politicians."
Carrying forward his mass contact programme in different areas, Munish said, "Our leaders have realized that elections are knocking at their doors and they have to tell the people that they (politicians) exist."
"Performances of the former MLAs have been dismal and all of us are aware about it. We need to think properly before exercising our franchise this time around," said Munish, who would be contesting the forthcoming Assembly elections as an Independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency.
He said, "During the past 70-years we have been following our leaders blindly with a hope that they would do something for us. But during all these years they have just fed us with slogans and rhetoric. Their performance on ground has been zero."
Munish said, "Politicians have become active once again and are counting their so-called achievements. But all of us know that they have disappointed us. The ball is the court of people. It's for them to decide whether to get carried away by hollow slogans or to teach these non-performers a lesson."
He said, "The forthcoming Assembly elections are a golden opportunity for all of us to tell the so-called leaders that they cannot take us for a ride anymore and they are no more welcome."
