Jammu, July 22: At least 17 Anganwari Workers promoted as Supervisors in December 2018, are waiting for salary for last seven months.
According to these promotees, the department earlier kept their promotion on hold for decades, now their salary has not been paid since December 2018, when they were promoted as supervisors.
"On 7th of December, 2018 State Mission Director, ICDS J&K promoted 17 Anganwari Workers in District Rajouri as Supervisors and subsequently the Director Programme Officer, ICDS on 20th of December, 2018 deployed promotees for their new assignments", said one of the Supervisors adding that since then their salary has not been released by the department.
"It has been learnt from the insiders, that their file is gathering dust in the directorate, waiting final call from the Mission Director", she said, adding that without salary our lives have come to a halt.
"We were made to wait for promotion for decades. Most of us were appointed 36 years back, in 1983", she said, adding that majority of them would be retiring from the services by the end of this year.
They said that another issue is that four to five ladies are widows and solely dependent their salary to meet their requirements.
They appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik to intervene into the matter and issue orders for release of their salary.
Pertinently the promotees have been borrowing money from the lenders to make ends meet.
