So far situation remains peaceful in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Aug 14: The situation in Srinagar by and large remained peaceful weeks after the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was abrogated the center government. Law and order situation has been maintained firmly by the security forces and state administration giving no room for trouble mongers to create any turmoil.
The state administration has been providing relaxation to various areas depending on the situation with few grocery shop and medicine stores running their shops during deal. People have been moving from one place to another in private vehicles while as public transport is off road while as some SRTC buses are running as well.
Eid-ul-Azha, the religious festival of Muslim community was also held peacefully with across the state with Eid prayers being only allowed in neighborhood mosques while as no prayers were allowed at shrines and Hazratbal Dargah or at Eidgah to prevent law and order situation. No stone pelting reports were reported during the Eid which otherwise has been a trend in last many years.
Schools, higher secondary schools and colleges and universities have been closed ever since the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was abrogated. The decision was made amid to prevent law and order situation, as in the past as well students used to protest and pelt stones on the security forces resulting in chaos.
All the arrangements have been made by the state administration for the full the full-fledged arrangement of Independence Day which will be held at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium Srinagar. Full dress rehearsal was held on Tuesday at Sher-e-Kashmir stadium in the presence of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan.
While as the Hajj pilgrims will return to the Jammu and Kashmir after performing their religious duties of 40 days on 18th August. The administration has done all the major possibilities to facilitate the Hajj pilgrims and help them reach their destination.
Principal Secretary Jammu and Kashmir, Rohit Kansal said that there are around 11,000 Hajj pilgrims that have gone for religious duties and they are scheduled to arrive on 18th August. And, the administrations have done proper things to facilitate their return.
He added, "One facilitation will be will done at the airport and other assistance will be done at the Hajj House because that is the also their destination. Also the facilitation will be provided at the State Road Transportation Centre so as the movement of people is facilitated.
Communication barrier is the issue which people across the Srinagar city wants to be resolved as soon possible. Residents here are getting it difficult to communicate their loved ones who are studying or living across the India or outside the country. To help people communicate with their fellas, various phone booths have been set up across the city by state administration where people in huge number wait in long queue to make a phone call and share their emotional felling. Also, in any case people studying outside the state have been calling to the local police station of their residence and leave a message to their family members which is passed on by the police personnel.
For media fraternity, Media facilitation Centre has been set up by the state administration at Hotel Sarovar Potrica Sonwar Srinagar near UN office. With clampdown on internet local, national and international journalists were having tough time in filing the story and now media facilitated Centre has come as a big relief for them.
Further, there is a proper stock of food items, vegetables and medicine in and around the state. The state administration led by the Deputy Commissioner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Principal Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Rohit Kansal, Divisional Commissioner Baseer Khan and other top officials has been closely monitoring the situation.
