Release of detained political activists begins in Kishtwar

Jammu, Aug 19: After nearly two weeks of clampdown and detention of political as well as social activists beside separatist leaders following the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A of the constitution, the district administration and police finally started releasing the detained political and social activist in Kishtwar District.
As per the details available with "Early Times", Kishtwar Administration today ordered the release of Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) State Youth General Secretary and party additional Spokesperson Mohammad Umar Malik after Court of First Class Magistrate ordered his release from District Jail Kishtwar after furnishing of bail bond surety required to be furnished U/S 107 (Public Nuisance), the law under which Magistrate can book any person on the grounds that the person to be detained is detrimental to peace and tranquility.
Malik's release comes in wake of the normalcy return to the District with no untoward incident has been reported from any part of the District in wake of the aftermath of NDA government decision to scrap the Article 370 and 35 A.
Beside 34 year old Umar Malik, Social Activist and President Public Awareness Front Kishtwar Shakir Siddiqui (52) and National Conference District General Secretary Shabir Ahmed Kamal (70 years) was also released on the bases of health grounds.
NC District General Secretary Shabir Ahmed Kamal was later shifted to Jammu for advance treatment.
When Early Times approached Umar Malik for his comments, he refuses to divulge any details and party plans ahead. He said that the time is not appropriate for him to comment at this time when his party president is still under detention and hoped that PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and other political leaders including his colleagues will be released without any further delay.
He said that it is only party high command who can decide the future course of action.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate (DM) Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana today issued two separate orders that all the schools/colleges/institutions in district Kishtwar shall remain functional w.e.f 20-08-2019 besides Airtel authorities were directed to resume mobile services in the district Kishtwar.
