Article 370's abrogation would change destiny of Jammuites: Channi Himmat Traders

JAMMU, Aug 23: The decision to abrogate Article 370 may be questioned by few political parties and intelligentsia in the state but the general mood in Jammu is in support of the step taken by the union government.
The Early Times, which is carrying out a daily feature focusing the views of trading community on abrogation of Article 370 and the impact it has on the business in future as well as the current situation due to the restrictions following the announcement of the decision imposed by the administration.
While speaking to the Early Times team, the members of the business community from Channi Himmat area wholeheartedly welcomed the decision of repealing Article 370 and said that it is in the best interest of the Jammu people.
"The landmark decision will be a big boost for the economy of Jammu as it will open up new avenues for big business investments which were only marginal till now due to restrictions to purchase land on outsiders," said Jatinder Gupta, who owns a sweet shop.
While Anil Soni, a building material trader, said "The decision to scrap Article 370 would change the destiny of Jammu. The monopoly of Kashmiris has ended with the decision."
Describing the decision as momentous, Rajinder Gupta, who runs a General Store, said, "The decision is in the interest of Jammu's business as the competition will grow which will ultimately be beneficial. We are thankful to union government for the initiative."
There were few others including Anoop Sharma, Rajeev Sharma, Anil Sharma, Manohan Krishan and Amandeep, who had all praise for the Modi-led NDA government for scrapping Article 370.
"The abrogation of Article 370 will definitely be a blessing for the Jammuites as it big business house and multinational would invest in a big way in the state which would pave way for huge employment generation which means that the local youth now can get jobs here only instead of moving out in order to earn a livelihood," they said. However, most of the businessmen, with whom the team of Early Times interacted, said that they are experiencing lot of difficulties due to snapping of mobile internet facility as the online transactions have drastically come down during the last fortnight."
