Nai Basti Traders support abrogation of Article 370, term it revolutionary

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 24: Hailing the decision of government to scrap Article 370 which gave special status to J&K, several traders in Nai Basti area of Jammu city said that the historic move will not only empower people of the state but make India stronger.
Endorsing their full support to abrogation of Articles 370, the business community of the area also strongly condemned a handful of politicians with questionable motives for casting aspersions on government's historical decision. "The opposition political parties should ponder over their stance on the scrapping of Article 370. They should not criticize the move just for the sake of opposition," said Krishan Jandyal, who owns a Saree Kendra in the ever busy Nai Basti market.
"To do away with the Article 370 is a welcome step which should have been taken much earlier but better late than never. The decision would pave way for the newly created Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh to attract large-scale investments which will ultimately lead to generation of more employment opportunities for the local youth," added Jandyal. While few others including Puran Chand Mehra, an industrialist, and Sunil Kumar also appreciated the repealing of Article 370 but put forward their view point with slightly different versions.
"I strongly feel that the decision to abrogate Article 370 would open the gateway for development and peace in J&K. I expect a large flow of investments to the state," said Puran Chand Mehra adding that though the business activities across the state are definitely experiencing some slow down due to disturbed situation and snapping of mobile internet facility but majority of the traders are ready to make any sacrifice in the national interest.
"The snapped mobile internet facility is certainly creating troubles for the business units as the flow of online transactions has been severely hit for the last more than 15 days," said Mehra. Sunil Kumar, a bakery owner, said that abrogation of Article 370 is a positive step but the government should now pay attention to create more employment opportunities adding that there should be provision of reservation in private sector jobs for the local youth.
There were a large number of others who have no complaints, expectations or suggestions but only praise for the abrogation of Article 370.
All of them including Pushpinder Singh, Prem Chand, Nakul, Vicky; a stationery shop owner, SK Sodhi; a tailor, Vijay Kumar, Bansi Lal Gupta; who owns a grocery store, and Sunandini, said that abrogation of Articles 370 and reorganization of J&K State into two Union Territories is a historical and ground-breaking decision.
"We pray and hope that the new revolutionary changes made for J&K by the Modi-led NDA would be a grand success. We stand by the decision and ready to contribute to shape up the destiny of our nation in whatever capacity we could," they said.
