8 arrested on charges of drug smuggling

JAMMU, Sept 10: Police claimed to have arrested eight drug peddlers from Raipur and Purkhoo under the jurisdiction of Domana Police Station on Monday evening and they sent five days police remand.
According to police sources, a team of Police Station Domana was on routine patrolling and found some suspicious activity and 7 persons tried to run away from a place where they were gathered after seeing cops. The Police team took them into their custody and started questioning and during the course of investigation, police found that they are drug peddlers, who sell intoxicant substances among the addicts of the Domana constituency as well as adjoining areas.
Later, another drug peddler was nabbed by the police from Purkhoo area and all were produced before Executive Magistrate 1st Class (EMIC) Marh for 5 days police remand and Police Station Domana got the remand of these drug smugglers.
The drug peddlers have been identified as Sandeep Bhatia son of Ranbir Bhatia resident of Udheywala, Pyar Singh son of Parbat Singh resident of Upper Thather Tehsil, Lonny Massi son of Putt Massi resident of Mandiwala Jourian Tehsil Akhnoor at present Dogra Nagar Durga Nagar Chinore, Shubam Mehta son of Anil Mehta resident of Dogra Nagar Durga Nagar Chinore Tehsil, Shubam Sharma son of Subash Chander Sharma resident of Raipur Tehsil, Narinder Singh son of Jagan Nath resident of Lower Thather, Nirmal Kumar son of Pritam Chand resident of Kote Bhalwal and Pritam Singh son of Uttam Singh resident of Purkhoo Bhallain Mohalla Jammu were arrested in suspicious condition and booked under section 55/109 Cr.PC of Police Station Domana. The above said drug peddlers were produced by PSI Kulvinder Dev at EMIC Marh for 5 days police Remand.
Acting stringently against drug menace, Station House Officer (SHO) Domana, Chanchal Singh told that eight drug peddlers were arrested and started the interrogation. It seems there is a possibility to nab more drug peddlers.
