Minister in Omar Abdullah led coalition to face music in long forgotten Examgate

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 10: There are high chances that Congress leader and a former minister in Omar Abdullah led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir will face music over charges of resorting to fraudulent means to pass the10th class board exams of his foster son.
As per the reports, the government may initiate probe afresh into the case pertaining to Congress leader and former minister who allegedly employed scandalous means to make his foster son qualify class 10 exams.
The then Congress minister was accused of facilitating his son's qualification in the 2009 matriculation examination through unfair means and impersonation.
The Crime Branch had registered a case against the minister's son and few board officials. Prima facie, reportedly, had established at that time that the papers of the former minister's son were written by someone else. "The Preliminary report prepared by the vigilance squad of the Board of School Education (BOSE) at that time had clearly mentioned that an academic officer found an examinee, bearing roll number 228211, copying during the inspection at centre number 228 (Al Ameen School). The student was the then education minister's son. The report also had stated that the then deputy director (academics) was assisting the examinee and his Urdu and mathematics answer sheets were written by different persons.
On February 21, 2012 Jammu and Kashmir's anti-graft body State Accountability Commission (SAC) issued a notice to the leader in question and sought the police report from the state government.
SAC, comprising Chairman Justice Y P Nargotra and Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain, issued the notice to him to appear in person or through counsel before the Commission.
The Commission directed that authenticated copy of the inquiry report from the Principal Secretary (Home)of J & K government, which was submitted to him by the State Crime Branch relating to the matter, be given to it.
Then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had also ordered a probe by the Crime Branch into the episode. The Crime Branch had submitted the report to the government on February 7, 2012.
Following the report, the then minister in question had sent in his resignation to the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi from the council of ministers. He, however, later claimed Sonia Gandhi had not accepted his resignation and asked him to continue.
On February 25, 2012 merely four days after the SAC issued a notice, the High Court stayed the State Accountability Commission's proceedings against former Education Ministerin Examgate scandal.
Now, with government busy clearing the mess, the question remains that will the anti- graft bodies of the new union territory of Jammu and Kashmir be given enough teeth to take this Congress leader and tell him that getting away easily after committing wrong will not be tolerated any longer.
As per the reports, there are high chances that probe will be reinitiated in near future and the threads related to the case will be picked up from where they were left.
