Possible infiltration from Poonch Sector puts Jammu on alert
9/18/2019 10:30:37 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 18: Amid reports of possible infiltration into Jammu region from Poonch sector during the recent spells of shelling by Pakistani forces, the Jammu city is on alert, sources told Early Times.
Sources said that the intelligence agencies have inputs that since the abrogation of Article 370 on Aug 5, around sixty foreign terrorists may have infiltrated into Jammu and Kashamir that a few such spaces have sneaked in from the Jammu province.
Sources said that security forces are fully prepared to thwart any attempt from Pakistan to disrupt peace in the city of temples and that was the situation being monitored while the intelligence network has been put on tenterhooks.
Whereas majority of foreign terrorists are believed to have infiltrated into Kashmir region from Gulmarg, Gurez and Tangdar sector, there are reports some groups have infiltrated from Poonch side in Jammu province.
Official sources said whereas all the infiltration took place in the garb of extensive shelling by the Pakistani forces, most of the shelling has taken place in Poonch and Rajouri sector of Jammu province, something that hints that the enemy country may have tried its best to push in terrorists from Jammu side so as to disrupt peace in region.
"Hence the infiltration from Poonch side cannot be ruled out," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
The intelligence agencies, however, believed that the terrorist who infiltrated from Poonch region may have sneaked in straight into Kashmir via Shopian, through a mountainous pass between the two areas.
"For every possibility and probability of such groups may have managed to reach Kashmir via Shopian and that is what the initial inputs suggest. But as a precautionary measures the security grid is on alert in Jammu region particularly the city as well," said a senior official.
He said that the Police in particular are always force on vigil in Jammu city. "Our intelligence network, nakas and special patrols are also on the move, so police are always on an alert," he said.
Union Government has inputs that highly trained terrorists, capable of executing fidayan strikes may have infiltrated into Kashmir in the last around 40 days since the abrogation of special status.
The Jammu region has been bearing the brunt of shelling from Pakistan as most of the ceasefire violation have taken place in this particular region and thus could be cause for infiltration. Despite repeated attempts the concerned in Jammu police couldn't be contacted for comments.
