`Chanting plebiscite slogan only option with NC'
Hasnain Masoodi plays typical separatist

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Oct 14: National Conference (NC) MP from Anantnag constituency, Justice (R) Hasnain Masoodi in an interview to international news service played a typical separatist saying all relations with India ended on August 5 and NC has been left with no option but to chant the plebiscite slogan. The interview was carried by a section of Urdu press Sunday.
The retired justice turned law maker told the international news service that the bonds with India had ended with the revocation of Article 370 of the constitution of India on August 5. "Now is the time for raising the plebiscite and referendum slogan,' he stated.
Masoodi also stated that article 370 was the bridge that connected Jammu Kashmir with India. "If there is no 370, there is no relation with India," he said.
Challenging the totality of Jammu and Kashmir's accession with the Indian union, Masoodi said the unilateral action of August 5 had left NC with no option but to raise the plebiscite slogan yet again.
Pertinently the NC leaders led by Mirza Mohammad Afzal Beg founded the Plebiscite front in 1955. The Front strived for 22 years seeking a referendum to ascertain the wish of the people. During this time, Beg would show green cloth and Pakistani rock salt to seek support of the gullible people. However, the Front was buried in February 1975 when the leadership signed the Accord to facilitate transfer of power to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. After assuming power, Mirza Mohammad Afzal Beg while addressing the legislative assembly declared his 22-year-old struggle for plebiscite as `wandering into political wilderness'. Even Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah went to the extent of saying that Article 370 was not a divine document that could not be changed.
The August 5 action, Masoodi said, had pushed Jammu and Kashmir back to pre-accession era. "It remains to be decided whether any relationship exists between India and Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
It is in place to mention here that the successive National Conference governments have jailed people seeking plebiscite. Similarly people challenging the totality of accession have also been detained and even tortured.
While Masoodi's interview has failed to invoke the desired reaction, people have questioned his integrity. "If he believes relation with India has ended, he must give up his parliamentary berth," they suggest.
