SHO defrauded with martyr's money, takes no action on complaint of deceased jawan's wife

Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 18: A Station House Officer (SHO) stationed in the Headquarter area of Jammu district defrauded with a martyr's money by hobnobbing with the brother of the deceased paramilitary jawan in order to satisfy the monetary greed.
According to sources, a case pertaining to some family dispute between the widow of a martyred soldier and her brother-in law, who is a Havildar in police, was reported by the woman in the police station.
However, the SHO instead of taking cognizance to the complaint of the martyr's wife backed her brother-in law to the hilt. "A paramilitary soldier, who was resident of the area where the SHO is posted, died outside the state. The jawan's widow received some cash following her husband's demise but her brother-in-law duped her and took the entire money and sent her to her parental house," said sources.
"The brother of the deceased jawan threw his sister-in-law out of the house and got hold of all her belongings including cash and dowry," sources added.
Sources said, "Soon the issue started to hog the limelight which prompted the brother of martyr jawan to go for a deal with the SHO due to which no action was initiated even as the widow of the martyred paramilitary soldier lodged a formal complaint against her brother-in law. A portion of the martyr jawan's money was given to the SHO in lieu of favouring the martyr's brother, who in any case is a fellow policeman."
Sources further said that the SHO doesn't feel shy to flaunt his powerful clout as he often says it in open parleys that senior officers do not dare to go against him.
"The SHO is also notorious for choosing and ultimately getting the choicest postings on his own free will. Taking advantage of his supremacy, he even refused to pay heed to the advice of his DySP to initiate action with regard to the complaint lodged by the martyr's widow," said sources.
