Two terrorists killed in overnight gunfight

Bandipora, Nov 11: Two Terrorist were killed in an overnight gunfight at Lawdoora village of north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Monday morning, police said. While as one of the militants killed has been an identified as Pakistani nationalist namely Talha, affiliated with LeT.
It is the first encounter after the state Jammu and Kashmir became Union Territory officially on October 31, while as special status of J&K was abrogated on August 5.
An official said that acting on a tip-off, a cordon was laid by police and army's 14 Rashtriya Riffles RR, Central Reserve Police Officer CRPF, and Special Operation Group SOG Bandipora, wherein a house was sealed after they received specific inputs about the presence of terrorist.
The hiding militants fired indiscriminately triggering a gunfight," a police official said. A militant was killed in the initial assault while as intermittent firing was on in the area throughout the night.
"With the first light of the day, police said that the second terrorist was killed as well. The bodies of both the slain militants were recovered and their identity was being ascertained", he added.
Police said that two AK-47 guns were recovered from the site of encounter while as other warlike stores and Pakistan based material including wireless devices was also recovered.
In a series of Tweets, Kashmir Zone Police Tweeted, "Two terrorists killed. Arms and ammunition recovered. Identity and affiliation being ascertained". In another tweet, Kashmir Police said, "One of the killed terrorist identified as Pakistani namely Talha Was operating as commander of proscribed terror outfit LeT. Incriminating materials including goods bearing Pakistani marks recovered. Involved in terror crimes.
Meanwhile, on its official Twitter handle, the army's Chinar Corps, confirmed the killing of two militants stating that warlike stores were recovered from the site of encounter. Meanwhile, locals said that the house where militants were hiding suffered partial damage.
While as a few weeks ago, three terrorists were neutralised by security forces in an encounter in Awantipora, including a commander of Al Qaeda linked Ansar Ghazwat-ul Hind and Zakir Musa's successor, Abdul Hameed Lelhari.
Lelhari was named as the new commander of Ghazwat-ul-Hind in June this year after Zakir Musa was gunned down by security forces.
"Three killed terrorists identified as Naveed Tak, Hamid Lone alias Hamid Lelhari and Junaid Bhat involved in several terror crimes", police had said.
