Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Nov 12: Government websites still show Jammu and Kashmir as state, which has been bifurcated into two union territories by the Centre.
In one of the sections on the Ministry on Home Affairs, Jammu and Kashmir is still shown as state and not the Union Territory.
The MHA is headed by Amit Shah, who moved the bill for abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state into two union territories, which was subsequently passed by both houses of the Parliament.
On August 5, the Centre abrogated Article 370 and from November 1, the state was officially bifurcated into two union territories, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.
Similarly, on websites of several departments in Jammu and Kashmir, the new union territory is still mentioned as state.
Satya Pal Malik is shown as Governor on the official website of Directorate of Health Services Kashmir.
Malik was recently appointed as Governor of Goa while Girish Chandra Murmu took over as Lieutenant Governor of JK on October 31.
A picture displayed on the General Administration Department website shows erstwhile JK's state's flag on the civil secretariat Srinagar.
The state that was governed through its own constitution has lost legal status and the state flag.
The websites of the Jammu Kashmir Power Development Department and State Electricity Regularly Commission have not been updated for months, neither the old information has been removed.
The government has directed departments several times to update official websites on a regular basis.
However, websites of most of the departments are either not updated or defunct, or the old and irrelevant information has not been removed from there.
Taken for instance the website of Legal Metrology Department has not been updated for months.
Similarly, departments like Social Welfare Department, Forest, Health, Medical Education, Industries and Commerce have not been updated for months neither the outdated information has been removed from the websites.
A senior government official said that this issue has been taken up with the concerned authorities. "We are aware that government departments are not regularly updating their websites. Government has already taken a note of this. We are hopeful that all departments will update their websites soon," the official added.
