Just in 100 days, Kashmir-centric leaders become irrelevant
Loose addresses as masses ignore them
11/14/2019 11:04:02 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 14: Kashmir-centric leaders, who called shots in Jammu & Kashmir during the past seven decades, have lost their addresses since the day J&K has been reorganized and bifurcated into two Union Territories.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that Kashmir-centric politicians including three former Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti and nearly 35 other politicians who used to claim that "no one will be left in Kashmir to hoist the national flag if they are ignored" are at the brink of becoming history as many new leaders have emerged on the scene and they are holding tricolour close to their heart.
The analyst said that the myth which Kashmir-centric leaders had woven during all these years about them being the representatives of the people stands shattered as no one during the past 100 days in the Valley has come out to seek their release.
"Since 1990, the Kashmir mainstream leaders had thrived on boycott factor. Anyone who used to get ten percent vote share used to become an MLA and even the Minister. Some so called leaders even without contesting the election used to become Ministers after being nominated by their parties as the members of the Legislative Council. After J&K's reorganization, the Upper House too stands abolished," he added.
An observer said, "It appears that political career of VIP netas from Kashmir are almost over as it has been proven beyond doubt that they didn't enjoy any public support and had become leaders by fluke."
He said, "If these political detainees want to come out of the confinement then they should sign the bond that they won't indulge in any sort of provocative activity which could create a law and order problem. They (politicians) also know it very well that their days are over and they would have to do something else other than politics to survive."
Another analyst said, "Kashmir-centric leaders should realize that politics of deceit won't work anymore. Nor would they be able to advocate the cause of separatists. They have been cut to size and there are only limited options available to them. People in Kashmir have simply ignored them and by not reacting they have indicated that the detained politicians are non-entities, who ruled J&K by just manipulating the situation."
He said the ones who used to call themselves as "big leaders" in erstwhile state of J&K have turned out to be just paper tigers.
