Despite spending lakhs, work lying incomplete even after 8 years

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 2: The much ambitious demand of the locals of Bhour Camp of Gandhi Nagar constituency for construction of Mini Stadium Bhour Camp has to be realized despite spending lakhs on it even after the lapse of eight years, which speaks volume of apathy of the previous governments, which failed to fulfil the promise.
The foundation stone was laid down by previous governments with much fanfare which remained confined to only ceremonies and nothing much was done on ground depriving the area with this facility.
"Initially, the construction work of the Mini Stadium was started in 2011-2012 but the work had hardly started that the work came to standstill due to unknown reasons. The local residents staged protest against stopping work and met the government representatives and local MLA who assured that soon work would be resumed," the local resident Sanchit Sharma said.
He further said that the then Sports Minister and MLA Gandhi Nagar constituency Raman Bhalla laid foundation stone in 2014 and announced that Mini Stadium will be completed soon and immediately after inauguration the work on boundary wall and public seating arrangement, lighting was started.
"Shocking, this time also the work could not be reached at its logical conclusion and remained incomplete even after so many years. Moreover the, protection walls which were raised around the stadium washed away during rainy season as ground is situated just adjacent to a Nallah which witness flood during rainy season," he said.
The locals alleged that casual approach of government towards this issue has the total defeat of center's initiative of promoting games in rural areas under its flagship "Khelo India". "We met the previous MLA Kavinder Gupta in this regard, he also did nothing except assurances. Whatever construction work was done many years ago is in total dilapidated condition," they alleged.
