Amid internet blackout, KU's recruitment of 7 Assistant Registrars comes under scanner
Applicants smell rat in speedy recruitment process, demands more time

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 2: At a time the new Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing complete mobile internet blackout, the initiation of the process of recruiting seven Assistant Registrars by Kashmir University has come under scanner as applicants have been alleging something fishy in entire process.
The Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing total mobile internet shutdown since August 5 and most of the recruitment agencies have stalled the recruitment process but the University of Kashmir has initiated the recruitment process on October 25, for the seven posts of Assistant Registrars/Assistant Controller of Examination in pay level 10 (Rs. 56100-177500) in main as well as satellite campuses of Kashmir University.
The online filling of the recruitment forms for the posts were scheduled to begin on October 28 and last date for submission of online as well as offline Hard copy of the recruitment forms was on November 25, which was later extended to October 30.
"Only few people, who have been residing in the urban localities of the Kashmir valley could be aware of the process, while the rural aspirants would not be able to even participate in the process", an applicant said, adding that apart from mobile internet services, even in some rural areas, even the newspapers have not been reaching, depriving the aspirants from even competing in the recruitment process.
Criticizing the administration of Kashmir University, another applicant said that during normal situations, over one month time has been given for filling the recruitment forms but during such situation, one month time was insufficient.
"Though the administration has also given the option to fill application forms at offline mode but when most of the aspirants would be unaware of the recruitment process, how they would be able to get a fair opportunity in the entire competition", the applicant said, alleging that there seemed to be something fishy in the entire recruitment process as the administration appeared to be in hurry to complete the process.
Another applicant said that earlier also reports of favouritism in the recruitment were published against the University administration as deserving candidates were rejected while nepotism prevailed in the engagement of candidates for various posts.
Assistant Registrar Recruitment Muzamil Masood Mattoo said that the administration had given the choice of submitting application forms on offline mode and the administration had already extended the last date of filling form from November 25 to November 30.
Matoo further said that only today they received requests from some candidates for extending the last date of filling the application forms, which would be discussed by the administration and a decision would be taken in this regard.
