President of India urged to direct Police to set all activists at liberty, arrested in Jammu
12/6/2019 9:30:56 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 6: Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party urged President of India, Ramnath Kovind to set all political workers including Panthers Party activists who were detained at Jammu while appealing the people to observe 'Jammu Bandh' on December 7, 2019.
In his letter Prof.Bhim Singh urged the President that, "I am taking this liberty urging Your Excellency for an urgent intervention to ensure that rule of law is restored in Jammu and Kashmir and all fundamental rights guaranteed in Chapter-III of the Indian Constitution are also ensured to all the Indian citizens in Jammu and Kashmir".
It further states as J&K National Panthers Party has given a call for peaceful 'Jammu Bandh' for December 7, 2019 seeking application of all fundamental rights to the Indian citizens in Jammu province also. Panthers Party had made appeal to all the political parties as well as to the social organizations and NGOs to support the Bandh on December 7, 2019. This is shocking that the senior leaders of the Panthers Party including its Chairman and President were detained while walking on the roads of Jammu to appeal the people, students, youth, shopkeepers and activists of all political parties to support the Bandh call in the interest of unity and integrity of the nation so that the National Flag Tricolour shall fly from Kashmir to Kanyakumari with dignity.
It also states that J&K Police arrested and detained the Chairman, the President and several other Panthers Party activists and some activists of other democratic parties in Jammu this afternoon. This kind of behaviour by J&K Police is totally illegal, unconstitutional and violates the fundamental rights of every Indian citizen in Jammu and Kashmir and therefore intervention of the Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi is the only way out to save the people in Jammu from the unconstitutional acts of J&K Police. I strongly appeal Your Excellency to direct the Lt. Governor of J&K to not to misuse his authority to crush the fundamental rights of the peace-loving citizens of India who were peacefully moving in the streets of Jammu appealing the people to join the bandh on December 7.
"Since tomorrow is Saturday, the Supreme Court is also closed and therefore I cannot seek the constitutional remedy for the reason that Saturday is holiday in the Supreme Court. This will be in the interest of democracy, rule of law and graceful for the heights of the tricolor flag which is flying all over the state of Jammu and Kashmir, "Prof Bhim urged.
