Lawyers' strike enters 36th day

JAMMU, Dec 6: The work in the High Court Jammu Wing as well as District Court Jammu remained paralysed as the ongoing strike of Advocates entered 36th day today.
The J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA), Jammu, as per the decision taken in its General House meeting held on December 2 under the Chairmanship of Abhinav Sharma, President, JKHCBA, Jammu, had decided to intensify the ongoing agitation by changing its mode, as such, the members of the Association have decided to start token Hunger Strike from December 4 in support of their demands regarding divesting Judicial Magistrate powers of registration of documents and simultaneously conferring the same upon the Revenue Officers.
Today on 3rd day of the token hunger strike, the female members of the Association along with other male members sat on hunger strike. Among those who sat on hunger strike are Pardeep Majotra Joint Secretary, Mandeep Reen, Upasana Thakur, General Secretary YLA, Salisha, Rashim, Surbh Kohli, Suraj Singh Plathia, Manjeet Singh Manhas and Vishal Salaria.
In addition, other members of the Association who were present are office bearers of JKHCBAJ namely Rohit Bhagat, Vice President, Abhishek Wazir General Secretary and Sushant Samnotra Treasurer and also number of senior members namely MK Bhardwaj, Surinder Kour, Ashok Sharma also came in support of the members present at dharna site. The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, has vowed to continue its ongoing agitation till all the demands are fulfilled.
The Association also urged upon the Government to fulfill the genuine demands of the Advocates for which the Advocates are agitating for the last 36 days.
Meanwhile, the work remain suspended for the 27th consecutive working day starting from 1st November in the District & Session Court Kathua including all other subordinate courts of the entire District Kathua and complete shutdown observed by District Bar Association Kathua led by its President Advocate Ajat Shatru Sharma.
