Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 7: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has condemned the unconstitutional and draconian methods being used to muzzle the voice of the people of Jammu who are raising their voice against the oppressive policies of the Govt. of the day.
The leaders of the JKNPP who were conducting a public awareness campaign in a peaceful manner in Jammu City against the burning issues which have created havoc in the normal life of the common citizens, students and business community; were subjected to inhuman & strong arm tactics of physically assaulting and arrest of the leaders & workers thereby not only violating their Fundamental Constitutional Rights of peaceful protest but also acting in a fascist manner unheard of in democratic countries. Chairman JKNPP Harsh Dev Singh was not only seriously injured in this melee with semi dislocation of shoulder and deep cuts on his foot preventing him to walk unaided and detained for more than 5 hours in the Police Station along with other leaders and then put under House Arrest to prevent him from interacting with the public and Party leaders making it a solidarity confinement, totally uncalled for, the press release reads. On the day of Jammu Bandh, President, Balwant Singh Mankotia General Secretary, Yash Paul Kundal and State Secretaries and alongwith other leaders and more than 400 workers were again arrested and detained in the district police lines when they were assembled at the Press Club, Jammu and addressing the people and making them aware of the various short falls of the present administration led by the Lt. Governor as the State is under President's Rule.
The administration is not concentrating on the various issues that have made the life of common man miserable, wherein the prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed with onions touching 110-120 kg. The Internet Ban has made the traders and business community defaulters due to non compliance of filling their GST returns thus preventing issuance of E-Way Bills for their ordered Goods resulting in stopping all their supply which will now lead to a shortage of essential commodities for the common public in J&K. The Tourism Industry has suffered immensely as no bookings can be confirmed nor can any payments be received in the absence of internet facility; thus making a majority of this industry defaulters with the banks.
This ban has immensely affected the students community as they have not been able to fill in their admission and job interview forms, PHD research work, download & upload their study material thereby affecting their academic career. The increase of 9-11% registration tax on vehicles also has put an unnecessarily strain on the pockets of the common man by increasing the cost of vehicles vis-à-vis the neighbouring states and also prevented Jammu public from buying new vehicles within the State leading to a slump in automobile sector. Coupled to this increase, numerous Toll Plazas have been so located in the Jammu region much outside the norms of NHAI rules and regulations just to increase the revenue from the people of Jammu province that even using 12-16 kms. of roads the person has to pay for the entire stretch of 60 kms. which is unheard of anywhere in the country. The Press Conference was addressed by Capt. Anil Gour, State Secretary-JKNPP Basharat Ali (General Secretary), Rakesh Gupta (Provincial General Secretary) and Ravinder Jamwal (Provincial Secretary) were also present in the press conference.
