1/21/2020 1:05:16 AM
Early Times report

Jammu, Jan 20: The former PDP rebel Altaf Bukhari has made a startling revelation about several congress leaders in touch with him, ready to support him for the formation of third front in Jammu and Kashmir.
A day after former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad accused Bukhari of floating the third front in nexus with the BJP, Bukhari trained his guns against the Congress veteran, accusing him of getting indulged in politics and deceit and deception.
In the same press statement, Bukhari spilled beans about the Congress, revealing that several of the Congress leaders are in touch with him and are likely going to become part of the third front in Jammu and Kashmir. “It is a fact that a number of senior Congress leaders are in touch with me but there is no question of coercing them or extending any facilities like Azad sahib has pointed out in his statement. There are many Congress leaders who share the same vision, passion and motivation to serve their people in their own capacities and thus are coming forward in that direction day by day,” Bukhari revealed in his statement that he issued on January 18.
The revelation has opened a Pandora box in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape, hinting at a major coup in the offing in various political parties of the erstwhile state.
Sources told Early Times that what Bukhari has said in his statement contains veracity and there are certain leaders from the Congress party which are waiting in wings to bid adieu to Congress and join Bukhari. “The talk of town is that Bukhari is going to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir and he shares a very cordial relations with those at the helm in BJP. It is therefore but natural that he would attract the people who want to be part of power in the erstwhile state,” says a Srinagar based political leader.
On January 7, this year, Bukhari created headlines when he met Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and sought restoration of statehood and domicile rights to the citizens of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Bukhari was accompanied by Ghulam Hassan Mir (President Democratic Party Nationalist), Mohammad Dilawar Mir (Former Minister), Zaffar Iqbal (Former MLC), Javed Hassan Beig (Former MLA), Noor Mohammad Shiekh (Former MLA), Choudhary Qamar Hussain (Former MLA) and Raja Manzoor Ahmad (Former MLA).
As per the insiders, Bukhari has shown his strengthen of enjoying the support of the PDP leaders and his intention to flout the third front in Jammu and Kashmir which will work for socio-economic and political aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Altaf Bukhari said recently that the time has come to look beyond Article 370 and explore other achievable options for Jammu and Kashmir. "The pain of loss of Article 370 will never go, but we have to come out of it," he said. "Life goes on; we must try for things that we can get.”
He said the way forward is domicile rights for residents and restoration of the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. "I will work in good faith and try my best to get those demands fulfilled," he said. "I am confident that these measures will help bring relief to people in Kashmir.”
